ZMQ is a software services company based in India with a double bottom line/social responsibility model. The company’s expertise is in creating social impact games for mobile devices in India and Africa. Therefore, these are not products to be played in sophisticated and highly engaging smartphones, but rather simple and “inexpensive” Java-enabled handsets. However, precisely because of this, ZMQ’s games have been featured on over 65 million devices.
Their simple games have covered issues such as illiteracy, climate change, and HIV/AIDS. In partnership with Games For Change, Half The Sky, and others, ZMQ is producing a series of games in support of a growing global movement of women’s and girls’ rights and empowerment.
Information about their collaboration with Games For Change can be found here: http://www.gamesforchange.org/main/newentry-features/half_the_sky_mobile_games_update_may_2011/
