- Play and real-world social change
The Playground Maker platform is a web-based game creation interface and a smartphone client player app. It helps get simple localized game designs off the ground easily for real world play and iterating. “Playground offers cities a platform for localized mobile games for tourism, education, health or just fun. Our games can also be linked to local events or festivals offering visitors and inhabitants a great way to discover the city.”
Similarly to GPS Mission and SCVNGR, Playground Maker may be speculatively extended to have potential for civic activism and environmentalism based activities and narratives. Currently available for the iPhone (with Android, Symbian, Bada and other versions) under development.
The iPhone application can be found here: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/playground-client/id400185710?mt=8
